Access the Feature
First, you need to configure the connection to the OpenAI API service, as described in a separate tutorial.
Navigate to the ribbon at the top where you will find the Diagram tab. Click on it.
Within the Diagram tab, locate the Editing group. This section houses various editing tools for your diagram.
In the Editing group, you'll see a button labeled Create New Translation. Click on this button. This action will open the Translate dialog.
Translate Diagram
Select the Target Language
Inside the Translate dialog, there's a dropdown labeled Language. Click on it and select the desired target language from the list of available languages.
Generate Translations
To the right of the Language dropdown, there's a button labeled Generate. Click on this button. This action will command the software to translate all the element names in the diagram using the OpenAI API. (Note: Ensure OpenAI API access has been previously configured in the software for this feature to work.)
Review Generated Translations
Below the Language dropdown and Generate button, there's a grid labeled Translations. This grid has two columns:
- Key - which lists the original element names
- Translation - which will be populated with translated names once the Generate button is clicked.
If you find that a translation needs adjustment, you can directly edit it within the Translations grid. Simply click on the desired cell in the Translation column and make the necessary changes.
Confirm or Cancel Translations
At the bottom of the Translate dialog, you'll find two buttons: OK and Cancel.
- If you're satisfied with the translations, click OK. This will add the translations as a new alias group to the diagram, preserving the original names.
- If you wish to exit without saving the translations, click Cancel.
Switch Between Original and Translated Names
After applying the translations, you can always revert to the original names or switch between different alias groups. To do this:
- Navigate to the ribbon and click on the Project tab.
- Within the Project tab, locate the Aliases group.
- Here, you'll find a dropdown labeled Aliases. Click on it to reveal a list of all alias groups. The active alias group will have a checkmark next to it. To switch to a different group (including the original names), simply click on the desired alias group from the list.
