Features of the Navigation Sidebar

The Navigation sidebar is intuitively designed for ease of use:

  • Search Box: At the top of the sidebar, you'll find a text box where you can enter the text you're searching for within your project.
  • Search Button: Next to the text box is a search button. However, for convenience, you can also initiate the search by pressing the ENTER key after typing your query in the search box.
  • Navigation Buttons: Below the search box are two buttons, each marked with an up or down triangle arrow. These are used to navigate between found results, allowing you to easily browse through occurrences of your search term.
  • Results List: The sidebar displays a list of found results, highlighting elements and fields containing the searched text. Each list item is displayed in two rows:
    • The first row shows the name of the item.
    • The second row (in gray) indicates the element's path in the format: /folder/diagram/element. This path provides a clear and easy way to understand where each item is located within the project structure.
  • Interaction with Results: Clicking on an item in the results list automatically opens the diagram editor with the parent diagram of the selected item. Additionally, the software will navigate to and highlight the searched text within the element, making it easier to locate and work with the specific information you need.

Practical Usage

The Navigation sidebar is particularly useful in large projects where finding a specific piece of text or an element can be like searching for a needle in a haystack. Whether you're looking for a particular class in a UML diagram, a specific term in a complex flowchart, or any text across various elements, the Navigation sidebar streamlines the process, saving time and enhancing efficiency.

By integrating this sidebar into your regular use of Software Ideas Modeler, you'll find that managing and navigating through complex projects becomes a more streamlined and less daunting task.
