How to Paste Elements to a Specific Position in Diagram
Copying Elements
Before diving into the pasting process, let's briefly touch on how to copy elements in Software Ideas Modeler. To copy an element or multiple elements:
- Select the element or elements you wish to copy by clicking on them. For multiple selections, hold down the Ctrl key and click on each element.
- Once selected, press Ctrl+C on your keyboard to copy them to the clipboard.
Default Pasting Behavior
When you paste elements using the standard Ctrl+V shortcut, Software Ideas Modeler places the pasted elements in a default position within the diagram. This position is slightly offset towards the right bottom from the original position of the copied elements. This default behavior ensures that the pasted elements do not directly overlap with existing elements in the diagram.
However, this might not always be where you want your copied elements to be placed. If you're looking to insert the elements at a specific location, you'll need to use a different approach.
Pasting Elements to a Specific Position
To paste copied elements into a specific position within your diagram, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the diagram area where you wish to paste the copied elements.
- Right-click on the exact position where you want the elements to be inserted. This action opens a context menu.
- From the context menu, select Paste.
- By using this method, the copied element or elements will be inserted precisely at the location you clicked. The point where you right-clicked specifies the top-left corner of the inserted content, giving you control over the placement of your elements within the diagram.
