Design ribbon tab contains various actions for layout and arranging. It also provides a tools for work with style sets.

Style Sets Group

Style Sets Group offers gallery of available style sets and the actions for managing style sets. Each project has only one active style set. You can choose an active style set either from the gallery.

Edit Current Style Set - Shows the style set editor with the style set of the current project. The editor allows you to add, edit and remove the styles of the current style set.

Set Default Style Set - Changes the current style set of the current project to the default one.

Load Style Set - Loads a style set from the file selected in the open file dialog.

Save Style Set - Saves the current style set to the file selected in the Save File dialog.

Remove All Custom Styles - Removes custom styles from all elements in the current project. The default style defined in the current style set is used instead of the other custom styles defined for individual elements.

Auto Layout Group

Auto Layout Group offers several ways how to place the elements in the diagram. Except from Smart Layout and Force Directed Layout there are simpler layouts as Rows, Columns, Circle, Cascade. This group allows you also set best size for the selected elements or route the relationship across the diagram.

Smart - Applies the smart layout to the selected elements or to the whole active diagram, if the selection is empty. Program tries to arrange elements so that the associated elements are close to each other and there are as few intersections as possible.

Force Directed - Applies the force directed layout to the selected elements or to the whole active diagram, if the selection is empty.

Rows - Applies the row layout to the selected elements or to the whole active diagram, if the selection is empty. Elements are sequentially placed from left to right, from top to bottom so that the rows of elements are created.

Columns - Applies the column layout to the selected elements or to the whole active diagram, if the selection is empty. Elements are sequentially placed from top to bottom, from left to right so that the columns of elements are created.

Circle - Applies the circle layout to the selected elements or to the whole active diagram, if the selection is empty. Elements are sequentially placed on the circle circumference.

Cascade - Applies the cascade layout to the selected elements or to the whole active diagram, if the selection is empty. Elements are sequentially placed from top left to bottom right in parallel diagonals.

Auto Size - Sets the smallest possible size of the selected element(s), which is big enough to be all parts of the element visible.

Route Relation - Adjusts the path of the selected relation to not go through other elements.

Order Group

Order Group provides standard actions for z-ordering diagram elements – Send to Back, Bring to Front, Back One and Forward One.

Bring to Front - Moves the selected element(s) to front of all elements in the current active diagram.

Send to Back - Moves the selected element(s) to back of all elements in the current active diagram.

Back One - Moves the selected element(s) one step backward in the z-order.

Forward One - Moves the selected element(s) one step forward in the z-order.

Elements Group

Elements Group allows you to handle groups of elements – create and break groups. It also provides option for locking elements.

Group - Groups the selected elements into the single element.

Ungroup - Breaks the selected group(s) to several individual elements.

Lock - Locks/unlocks the selected element(s). Locked elements cannot be moved.

Alignment Group

Alignment Group allows you align the group of elements to any border of selection outline bounds. It offers also centering actions.

Align Left - Aligns the selected elements to the left border of bounds specified by selected elements.

Center Horizontally - Centers the selected elements horizontally on the bounds specified by selected elements.

Align Right - Aligns the selected elements to the right border of bounds specified by selected elements.

Align Top - Aligns the selected elements to the top border of bounds specified by selected elements.

Center Vertically - Centers the selected elements vertically on the bounds specified by selected elements.

Align Bottom - Aligns the selected elements to the bottom border of bounds specified by selected elements.

Distribute Group

Distribute Group offers actions which allow you to unify vertical or horizontal spaces or distances among selected elements. Diagrams will look nicer with regular placements.

Horizontal Same Space - Moves the elements to make the horizontal distance between each two elements in selection same.

Vertical Same Space - Moves the elements to make the vertical distance between each two elements in selection same.

Distribute - Shows the submenu with commands for distribution (change of relative position) of the selection element(s):

  • Horizontal Left - Divides the area on so many same vertical parts how many elements are selected and places (aligns horizontally) each element on the left edge of the neareast partial area.
  • Horizontal Center - Divides the area on so many same vertical parts how many elements are selected and centers each element horizontally to the neareast partial area.
  • Horizontal Right - Divides the area on so many same vertical parts how many elements are selected and places (aligns horizontally) each element on the right edge of the neareast partial area.
  • Vertical Top - Divides the area on so many same horizontal parts how many elements are selected and places (aligns vertically) each element on the top edge of the neareast partial area.
  • Vertical Center - Divides the area on so many same horizontal parts how many elements are selected and centers each element vertically to the neareast partial area.
  • Vertical Bottom - Divides the area on so many same horizontal parts how many elements are selected and places (aligns vertically) each element on the bottom edge of the neareast partial area.

Size Group

Size Group provides various sizing operations, which help you to adjust width and height of selected elements. You can unify the size of elements or make the elements bigger or smaller.

Make Same Width - Sets the width of an activate element to all other selected elements.

Make Same Height - Sets the height of an activate element to all other selected elements.

Make Same Size - Sets the width and height of an activate element to all other selected elements.

Inflate - Inflates the selected element(s) by 10 pixels. The width and height is increased by 10 pixels and the elements are moved so that the center remains in the same place.

Deflate - Deflates the selected element(s) by 10 pixels. The width and height is decreased by 10 pixels and the elements are moved so that the center remains in the same place.

Wider - Enlarges the width of the selected element(s) by 10 pixels. The elements are moved so that the center remains in the same place.

Narrower - Reduces the width of the selected element(s) by 10 pixels. The elements are moved so that the center remains in the same place.

Higher - Enlarges the height of the selected element(s) by 10 pixels. The elements are moved so that the center remains in the same place.

Lower - Reduces the height of the selected element(s) by 10 pixels. The elements are moved so that the center remains in the same place.

Move Group

Move Group helps you with precise moving. If you want to move the element to left, right, up or down, you can use one of actions in this group. It allows you also to align to whole diagram to start coordinates - 0, 0.

Move Left - Moves the selected element(s) to the left by 10 pixels.

Move Right - Moves the selected element(s) to the right by 10 pixels.

Move Up - Moves the selected element(s) up by 10 pixels.

Move Down - Moves the selected element(s) down by 10 pixels.

Move Start To (0,0) - Moves all elements of the active diagram to make the diagram bounds starting at coordinates x=0, y=0.

Rotation Group

Rotation Group offers predefined rotation options, the option to reset the rotation and also the option to set the rotation precisely in two ways: absolute rotation or relative rotation from the current angle.

Rotate - rotate the selected element(s) by a chosen angle.

Reset Rotation - Resets rotation of the selected element(s) to the default unrotated state.
