SIM is a .Net application. So though targetted at the Windows you can run it on Mac/Linux with Mono (http://www.mono-project.com/Main_Page)

There are some GUI issues when you try to run SIM (from version 5.x) on Mono, because there are still some differences between .NET and Mono. I'm working on fix. Meanwhile, you can use version 4.104.
